Just to clarify... The "Happy Jack" video with the TR4 is from the mid 60's.
The movie "The Kids Are Alright" which is a compilation of a bunch of old
Who footage was released in the late 70's.

Your memory about the TR4 is correct. Its on the circa 1979 film
"The Kids Are Alright" starring The Who (which is still available new on
video). Its been some years since I've seen it, but I believe the song
video was "Happy Jack". Fascinating considering it was decades before MTV.

Someone help me out here - I also recall at one time seeing
an early Who
'music video' in which the four lads were bombing around
inside some old
barn or warehouse in a TR4 or 4A - ring any bells with
people out there?
Also, it's common knowledge that Ann-Margret drove a 3A in
the Elvis movie
'Viva Las Vegas'. In the scene near the start of the movie
where the two
meet, Ann is complaining to the mechanic Elvis about her car
'whistling'.
When Elvis goes to look at the 3A, there are other sports
cars in the
background, such as a 300SL and a Daimler SP250. There is
also the
trunk/boot of another car off to the right - is it also a
TR4? Because it's
only a film backdrop on a soundstage and not an actual car
you see, the
image is a bit blurry. I can't tell if it's a TR4 or perhaps
a Sunbeam
Alpine. Calling all Triumph trivia freaks!

trend among rock

using the Union Jack as a logo/icon. In 1965, the
same year The Who
first
appeared on the British TV show Ready, Steady, Go
playing their hit
single
"I Can't Explain", he started draping the British
flag over his Vox
amps and
then later his Marshall speaker cabinets. Pete
Townsend also had a
jacket
made from a Union Jack. The Who's use of the
British Flag became an
icon to
the Mod movement in England in the mid 60's. As a
bit of reverence
to the
Who, neo-mod rockers The Jam draped Union Jacks over
their amps in
the late
70's when they first appeared on British TV. Just a
bit of history
from an
