Hello again all,

I have a few questions.

I am ready to install my a British Parts North West 270 cam back into the 1500.
I autocross the car and it will have an aluminum flywheel. The cam has an
effective range straight up of 2500-6300.

What I want to do in lower the power to less than 6000 to keep from blowing the
motor and to generate more TQ lower to pull the factory 3.8 rear. To do this I
believe I have to advance the cam, that is it should be more clockwise than its
original position. ( I think )

Now the cam gear has four (4) ways to put it on, so I can change it from a
quarter tooth, half tooth, three quarter tooth and then the one full.

Now the questions are:

1) How do I know how far to advance it? (anyone done this for racing)
2) How many degrees is a tooth?
3) How to determine where the cam is (degreeed) once I put it in.

I have never degreed a cam and the Triumph 1500 books really states how to set
it up "straight up" for a stock cam by using feeler gages on #7 and #8
rockers.. but how does this work for another cam? Or better.. how do I DEGREE
it?

Thanks, I hope this is clear but I am not really sure how to do this.

If this has been a "typical issue before" I apologize.

Erik
