No, they are not interchangable. The frame design was changed to
accomodate the
J-type O/D and the 71 mounts will interfere with the O/D. I put a J-type
on my 71 and
I had to cut away part of the existing mount and improvise a new mount
there. When
I swapped frames to a 73 model (which was set up for the J-type) I put
everything back
to stock.
Like I said, check the SIX TECH manual for some ideas. (There are many
ways to skin
a cat(fish))
