Carl, I'm certainly biased but if your trip is in the next few months
I'm sure you'd enjoy the scenery and sights of Southern Arizona this
time of year.  If you want to know more you can Email me off list but
indicate what activities & sights interest you (hiking, birding, zoos,
scenery, camping, history, etc.).

Also... About 2 years ago I made a similar trip and took the Natchez
Trace from Nashville, TN to Nactchez, Mississippi.  This is a great
drive if you're willing to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.  It was my
first experience in the Deep South and I found it to be a friendly and
scenic place.  A side trip to the Space Center at Huntsville and visits
to Civil War Historic sites at Shiloh and Vicksburg were very
worthwhile.  The chicken dinner at Stanton House in Natchez is worth a
side trip.
