There is tremendous pressure 'downwards' on those liners and figure 8 gaskets
- you'd think that in itself would be enough to keep a tight seal - my
experience in 1974 was to put a very thin smear of regular gasket sealer on
the gasket (more important they seat correctly in my view) and it hasn't
leaked since.
