Spitfire bumber

Is the bumper color on a 1980 Spitfire supposed to be gray? I was going to
paint it black with bumber paint thinking it was badly faded but I took off
a sticker that had been on there since 1986 (might have been faded then) and
it was gray. Also what color is the valve cover supposed to be? It's painted
blue now.
