TR4 softtop ?

Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge on how to prevent the 
center steel rod/stick that in sewn into the softtop and fits under the 
lip on the windscreen from spinning. I am having a hell of a time trying 
to get the rod under the lip.  I have no problem with the two side 
pieces but the center piece seems to fip up 90 degrees.  I am hoping 
that someone has an answer or I might be forced to get it resewned.
