Jim,
I've had 4 TR6's with air. Three were sold new from the local dealer with a/c of
the type that is commonly found in the southeast: This type has the compressor
on the passenger side of the engine held by a bracket that is attached to the
two front head bolts, lower water pump bolt and a rod which bolts to the engine
mount. The compressor is driven via v-belt from a pulley mounted at the end of
the extension directly behind the fan.
The condenser is located in front of the radiator attached by short brackets to
the radiator support brackets at the top and oil cooler mounting holes at the
bottom.
The evaporator fits under the glovebox area of the passenger footwell in a unit
that also houses the blower fan (which necessitated cutting a hole in the top of
the footwell extension under the hood and is covered with a black plastic dome)
and passenger air ducts. A plastic flexible hose allows air to flow to the
driver side unit which contains a control unit with a 3 speed fan switch and a
temp. control rheostat. Hoses also go to the fascia vents of which the originals
were replaced with louvered pieces. Fresh air is no longer available through
the fascia vents or the removed eyeball vents formerly located under the extreme
ends of the fascia.
The units are extremely efficient and cool the small passenger area of the TR6
quickly in even the most brutal of South Georgia summers.
Hope this helps,

Jim Davis
