The subject of TR4-4A-250 existence prompted me to look at the production
volumes of the various "families" in the TR range. Here's what I find from
the VTR web pages:
Sidescreen cars (TR2-TR3B): ~86,000
Middle cars (TR4-4A-5/250): ~77,000
TR6: ~92,000
TR7-TR8: 100,000+
You might argue with my grouping, but the fact is that there were not
significantly fewer TR4/4A cars built than the sidescreen cars. I guess it
comes down to the value issue and whether the sidescreen cars are more
highly prized. Someone might be more willing to save a sidescreen car over
a 4 or a 4A. Me? I'd like to collect the whole set.
