More about the stalling spit...

I don't know how many people caught it but I had added a message a day back
or so pointing out that the spit stalls in cold weather too (this is not
often though, you have to stop and start a lot for it to occur).  If my
knowledge of vaporlock is correct, it can't occur when it's cold out, which
takes me back to stage one... any ideas?
