Say, here is a subjective question.

How much metal is too much in transmission gear oil? How much "sparkle"
it too much?

The follow up. If there is a good bit of metal sheen in the used oil... why?
Wrong oil? Rough Shifting? General wear?

The oil that came out of my four-speed looked a bit contaminated with metal
that was once the transmission. Other than a bit of trouble finding first
at a stop (clutch fully releasing, pilot bearing OK) the trans is in good
shape. It is from John Kipping rebuild, two year and 10,000 miles old)
