Bob,

Before you start ripping things apart lockwise, have a looksee in the front
and rear iindicator lamps!
This appeared recently on the list and you may have missed it. The factory
often used to put a spare
set of keys in either location wrapped in sticky tape. Maybe, just maybe,
yours are still there.

If not, still don't start taking the lock to pieces. BMIHT SHOULD be able
to tell you the key numbers
PROVIDING the original data on the production 'tally' card was sufficiently
clear to be microfilmed.

You've got two options.
#1 A FULL CERTIFICATE (cost US$40)
This won't show the keys numbers but its advisable on your covering
letter/note to ask them to pick
those numbers out when they examine the microfilmed 'tally.' You'll get the
lowdown on the details
required from Joe Curry's website where he has posted all the info.

#2 OTHER INFO
If you don't want a certificate and just the key numbers, a 'contribution
to costs' would certainly be appreciated
- say US$15.00? BMIHT will obviously want the chassis number in any case to
do the trace but as an added
security measure, it would be sensible to include a photocopy of the
vehicle title with your name and address
on it and a current insurance certificate similarly identified (if you have
one).
We don't like dishing out that sort of info unless we know it is going to
the legal owner for obvious reasons.
