I've been lurking for quite a while now and wondered just haw many UK
readers of the list there are?

>>Jason, I can assure you that there are lots of us.

>>plus several other Nationalities, ie: Germans, Irish, Swedish, French,
>>Portuguese, South African, Australians, New Zealanders etc...

Are there any triumph newsgroups or lists for the UK triumph enthusiasts?

>>Why ?

I'm at the moment planning the re-start of my seven year old project and am
looking for some inspirational photos of a Vitesse MkII Convertible
(preferably in non-standard yellow)- that's a Sports Six to the Americans-
why was it never called the Vitesse in the States?

>>The Sports Six was never called the Vitesse in the States, partly because
the >>Americans were not expected to understand the French word, and partly
>>because the 679 Sports Six's sold in the USA were all 1596cc or Vitesse '6'
>>Convertibles, therefore we sold the respective models as:
>>Spitfire '4' (Mk.1) and Sports '6'

I know the Triumph Acclaim name couldn't be translated into German because it
came out as a Nazi slogan- Seig Heil, definitely not 'PC'.

>>I featured a copy of a German Triumph Acclaim broucher in one of my >>TSSC
reports some years back, clearly showing that the car was in fact sold on
>>the German market as the "Triumph Acclaim".
>>Which must be better than the recent offering from SEAT called the
>>"SEAT Toledo Allegro".
>>Apparently, when SEAT asked Rover group (as was) for permission to re-use
>>the names Toledo and Allegro, the man at Rover said
>>"Of course you may, but why on earth should anyone want to ?"

>>I wonder if the Vincent "Hurricane" kit-car is sold in Germany ? or for that
>>matter, the Bristol "Blenheim" or "Beaufighter" cars ?

>>Good Luck with your Vitesse.
