Greetings:
Since I just recovered mine yesterday I can tell you that the white
cotton padding just covers the top and sides of the rubber. Only the
rubber is glued directly to the metal. The vinyl is then glued to the
metal sides and base area which fits onto the door. Good luck figuring
the folds where the metal buttons pop into the ends. I installed the new
vinyl from the center of the cap and worked my way out to each end
equally. For the ends; I cut the vinyl past the button holders approx.
one inch, cut small hole in vinyl and inserted button into button holder.
trimmed and folded excess material to finish off ends. The trimming and
folding of material at the ends was not as easy as it sounds, proceed
slowly with the scissors.
Good Luck:')
H. Ward
