In reference to a sticking needle, especially one that only requires a few
taps on the glass to get it operating.  It could be that the little wire
that stops the needle at rest has worn a groove in the paint on the needle.
 It effectively captures the needle and requires slightly more force than
usual to release.  This is what happened on my GT6 Tach - You can carefully
bend the wire so that it now rests at a SLIGHTLY different angle than
before and it will cure the problem (until it wears a new groove :-})
