Stu,

If I'm not mistaken, the top relay is for the starter. The beige wires you
have are probably brown wires that have faded with time. The wire you melted
is most likely the white/yellow wire to the ignition coil, the white becoming
beige with age. There should also be a white/red wire, which goes to the
starter, and a white/orange wire, which comes from the seatbelt interlock. All
this is shown on the schematic for the '75 (the '76 schematic is in error
around this relay, and can't be relied on).

Anyway, a horn relay has purple, purple/black, and purple/yellow wires. An
Overdrive relay, if you have one, has white, brown, yellow/purple, and
yellow/green wires. 

If the beige wires have 12 volts on them at all times, key on or off, then
they are really brown wires. Check the "melted" wire with an ohmmeter to see
if it really does go to the coil.
