J-Type Overdrive Problem

This past summer, I retrofit my '73 TR6 with a J-Type overdrive
transmission. I'll admit that I paid someone to do it for me - not
necessarily because of mechanical incompetence, but because I had eight
month old twins - and I wanted to drive the car again before the turn of the
century.

The transmission works great with one exception. There is no lockout as
there should be for 1st and 2nd gears. On several occasions, I have
forgotten to switch the unit off and accidentally had the overdrive engage
in 2nd gear. I don't know if reverse lockout works - I suspect it doesn't
as I can here the solenoid click when I toggle the switch while in reverse
with the ignition switch in the on position. I suspect wiring issues. I
don't want to bring my car back to the shop where I had the work performed -
I prefer to fix it myself. Bentley's overdrive wiring diagram is a tad
weak. If anybody out there has a description of how the lockout switches
work, or better still, a wiring diagram, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance,

Brian Day
