Hello, I noticed your transmission noise problem and thought that I might be
of some assistance. I have a 1965 TR-4 and experienced the same problems
about a month ago. Sorry to say that most likely is the transmission. Yes it
does feel solid, however I am sure that it is loud. Mine turned out to have a
faulty third gear. May I recommend that you take it to a mechanic and have it
checked out thouroughly. Also, try not to drive it in escess and I would
suggest that you begin to look for a replacement transmission (they are hard
to come by). I was fortunate in finding a used transmission and we pulled the
needed parts.
