I also used the C-clamp method to install these rack clamps, but I 
think there is a clearance recommended between the rack clamps and
the frame at the sides...I followed the directions in the Haynes
manual for this.  As I recall, I used a 1/8" drill bit as a guage
to gap the clamps away from the frame, but that's been a few years
ago now -- although I do remember that things went smoothly doing
it per the directions in Haynes.
