Well, you did say Minnesota! Drove my TR4 year-round in mid-northern
Michigan for perhaps two-three years. Most embarrassing
moment--forgetting to drain the Castrol 20W-50 until _after_ the first
below zero day. The tow truck couldn't jump the car at 12v, nor at 24v,
and then had to give me a push at 50 mph before it turned enough to
start. <g> Highly recommend, in winter, snow tires made for
VWs--155/85x15s, tall and narrow with big lugs. Put the car in second
and stomp on it, steer with the throttle, and it's like driving a
paddlewheel steamer in the snow. <g>

And, Webers will start the car in winter, but only if they're the type
equipped with starters. I think I had 40DCOE22s on my TR4. Maybe 21s.
All I remember is I got `em cheap from a guy parting out a Lotus. <g>
