Wire harness

Can a wire harness be used from a 1978 Spit, to re-wire a 1972 spit?
I would just clean up the one on my "NEW" spit, but the PO (BAS&^%$)
rewired the car with a harness from a tercel. All the ends are just TAPED
together, they fell apart in my HAND!!  Anyway.....  Has anyone made one
from scratch?  I have the time and patience, I just need to know the color
scheme on the workshop manual.  Can someone help out with that?
