Triumph Bretheren:
I have a 70 Spitfire Mk III (with D-type OD ,swing spring and beefier
anti-roll bar from a MK IV)which I have recently mechanically rebuilt.
It currently has the stock single Stromberg which I was planning to swap
for the earlier MK III lashup with twin SU HS2s. I bought the manifold
on a trip to England and got the SUs (off a Midget probably) locally.
At a recent swap meet I happened upon a (single) 40mm DCOE Weber on a
Spit manifold at a price that was too good to turn down. I bought the
Weber on impulse (you can't leave a swap meet empty handed can you?)but
I'm having second thoughts about using it. Though I wouldn't mind a few
more ponies,I don't want to turn the car into a racer. I'm wondering
what other modifications I'll have to make to get the Weber to perform
and if it will be worth the trouble and expense for this car that only
sees light touring. I don't know anything about Webers and I could use
names of parts suppliers for them. I thought I read somewhere that one
needs a distributor with a mechanical advance for a Weber (there goes my
old Delco along with the tach, see what I mean about complications?)

Any advice from the group would be appreciated.
