This is a common beginning for what listers are calling "spitwright's"
     desease...

Putting in the floor boards isn't too tough, but it is a lot of work
and requires some welding skill...if the floors are bad there is good
likelihood that the rockers are also in need of R&R....and pretty
soon, the $100.00 parts add up to some real money (and a bunch of
     time).

I'd be real cautious about such a car, particularly at $1200.00. In
the last week I have seen four different Spits change hands for less
than $150.00 each (averaged) and have bought 2 GT-6's for less than
$500.00 (one with overdrive). One of the Spits had good floors and a
     factory hardtop...even runs, a little.

It is hard not to want these cars at prices around a $1000.00 or less,
but the work and subsequent costs can be large...its often better to
let some other enthusiast spend the money and do the work...buy his
"like new" car for half what's been spent...

unless you really enjoy the effort, want to know where every bolt and
nut fits and that there truly is no rust free LBC....

I am looking at a 77 spit that has a rusted floor boards. The seller is
tossing in new Floor Boards. The rest of the SPit seems in good shape. The
body was "rust coated" at some point and seems good.

1. How hard is this and what does it take.
2. Should I pay to have it done?
3. Is it worth about $1200?
