I don't want to start another carpet colour saga with this one, but I would
be interested if anybody could respond to this: As a parts car I purchased
the remains (and I do mean remains) of a 1955 short door TR2, to help in
the re-build of my 1954 long door. I decided it would be nice to have a
Heritage cert, not only for my project but as a mark of respect I also
ordered one for the donor car (I had the chassis plate). When both
certificates arrived I noticed the body colour for the dondor car was
Black. It was listed as a Home Market car, so was built in Coventry and
imported into Ireland at some stage. The problem I had that the car was
Blackberry (later called Damson) in colour. It had been re-painted several
times, but the first colour was without doubt the above. I found it on the
inside of the wheel rims !!. According to Bill Piggott's book , this was
not possible, as that colour was never offered. If it had been a C.K.D car,
well then that might explain it, but again the cert. states a home built
job. I also happened to be on the phone to Mr Piggott about another matter,
when I mentioned the colour thing, he swore blind it was not possible for
me to have such a car. Well, anybody got any ideas !!!!.
