The factory manual for Spitfire Herald120 and Vitesse page 4-117 states:

Tap the felt seal retainer into the hub. Oil the felt seal, squeeze out the
surplus oil and fit the seal to the retainer. On disc brake models ensure
that the disc registers are clean and free from burrs before fitting the
disc to the hub, and securing with bolts and spring washers.

Fit the hub to the stub axle.

Coat the rollers of the outer roller bearing inner member with grease and
insert it into its outer ring in the hub.

Fit the washer and slotted nut leaving the nut finger tight.

Fit the brake drum (non disc type) and retain with two screws, or refit the
caliper unit.

Adjust the hub bearings.

Adjustment

Whilst spinning the hub, tighten the slotted nut to 5 lb/ft. (0.7 mkg.)
then unscrew the slotted nut one flat to give 0.002" to 0.008" (0.05 mm. to
0.2 mm.) end float of the hub.
