Ken: You're lucky; when I have tried this, the stem spins in the taper and I can't get the nut off! Anyway, there are two tools one can use. One is the so-called pickle fork: a tapered fork which is driven into the space between the control arm and the upright. The other is a tool which is very much like a wheel puller. Either of these should be available at a NAPA or other auto parts store. Philip E.
