A friend of mine in SOCAL has a 302 Ford with T-5 five speed and Mustang
rearend. Rearend was narrowed with custom axles and TR bolt pattern as well
as new driveshaft. Steering was moved to accomodate exhaust manifolds and new
trans cover was built including lots of heat insulation. Car is a rocket and
can out run just about anything on the road as long as you don't travel too
many miles. A second TR fuel tank was piggybacked into the trunk for long
distance cruising. If anyone is interested e-mail me for his phone number.

Another friend dropped a TR8 V8 and five speed into a TR3A. Looks just like
the factory put it there in the late fifties. He wins many show awards!

Speaking of TR8 engines, Another friend got tired of his TR8, Got a GT6 and
put Spit body parts on it. Needed more power and dropped a TR6 motor in it.
Just sold it for his latest project under construction. A '64 Spit with TR8
engine and five speed. Watch for this to be on the streets next year.

Why waste time measuring for a V-6 when it is a known fact that a 289
Ford will fit with plenty of room to spare? :-)

Irv, and Trent too-

Yeah I too have seen a TR4 with a ford 289 in it. As I recall, the only major
clearance was with the steering column. The owner had placed an additional
u-joint in it to clear the left side of the motor. Aside from the narrowed
ford 9" rear end, everything else looked pretty stock, both outside and under
the hood.

The only other clearance problem was with my glasses. When he took me for a
ride, it seems I had a bad case of decreasing clearances between the front of
my eyeballs and the lenses of my glasses. Yes Virginia, we are talkin
acceleration here !

Now that I think about it, a 289 powered GT6 doesn't sound so silly...
