Joe,

     There is an excellent book for reference on all your qestions-
  so far. This book is called "THE TRIUMPH COMPANION", by Steven
  Rossi and Ian Clark. I obtained my copy via TRF (part no.RFP36).
     This book answers your questions thusly: 68 TR 250 chrome valve
  cover & ROstyle covers; 69 TR 6 painted valve cover & wierd (one year
  only) 5-1/2 wheels with the ROstyle covers; 70-72 TR 6 silver wheels
  with beauty rings and black center caps & painted valve cover;
  73-76 TR 6 silver wheels with silver center caps & painted v.c.
     The Ford argent (an archiac term for silver according to my
  dictonary) is a very close match. Although I don't have it with me
  (it is in my notebook at work), I can post Ford's paint code
  number if you'd like. With this number, you could obtain either
  spray or liquid paint from a local body shop supply store.
     Knowing Triumph's resourcefulness, it is very probable this
  same silver is used on the air filter housings found on all TR 6's.
  The TR 250's air filter was black. Get this book it's very helpful
  and interresting.
                          JOE IV
                          TR 250
