Ken,

Since I have only had '74 TR-6's, I know the problem you are facing.  I 
think '75 and 76 had a similar buzz box as well.  The way to get around 
this problem is simple.  There is a large plug going into the box.  In 
this plug, you will find a small white wire with a red tracer and a 
small white wire with a pink tracer.  Cut these wires loose from the plug 
and connect them with a splice.  This will forever cure your starting 
problem.
