The trouble with hydrogen engines is basically the same as with electric
engines.  The hydrogen has to be produced.  My understanding is, that it is
done electrically separating water into hydrogen and oxygen.  Then when it
is burned it recombines to make water.  So the burden is shifted to the
electric plants.
