The original tonneau cover had a strap sewn or riveted on the inside along
the outer part of the passenger side of the zipper. This strap was about 1or
2" wide, made of the same material as the cover itself, and had a
"lift-the-dot" female fastener at the loose end. The strap would go
vertically down to the stud on the passenger seat. I also have a new tonneau
cover which does not have the strap and am considering putting one in because
what the original did (and it worked) was prevent the cover from flapping
when the cover was in place and closed over the passenger side of the tonneau
(BTW - "tonneau" is the open space in the car - also referred to as the
cockpit in the U.S.- hence "tonneau cover"). Any upholstery shop should be
able to do the job; just be careful to get it the right length. If it is too
long it will not prevent the flapping, if too short it will pull the zipper
down when you close the cover completely and water will collect around the
zipper and leak into the tonneau. Hope that answers ur question. Regards.
