In the manual they recommend NOT bump starting a vehicle with a
catalytic converter even though it has a manual transmission.
Push starting runs the risk of pumping large amounts of unburned fuel
into the exhaust system, particularly if the car doesn't start fast/at
all. If the car then -does- get started, the cat will attempt to
catalyze all of this fuel as it warms up, and cook itself. It's still
a bit of a problem today, but less than it used to be; early
converters were much easier to damage.
