"I thought I had the right setup on tires. But a short
wheelbase car like mine is difficult in
the corners but fast on the straights. In the second half of
the race the tires went off so
much that I thought something had broken in the back of the
car. I'm happy to be third,
but I would have been happier to be on the top step. The
handling was so bad that I had
to go to half throttle in some corners where I usually don't.
Incidentally, this is my 21st
year of running this same car."
As Barry Schonberger reported a few days back, Tom qualified first on
Tuesday, but got protested to the back of the grid over some question
about which were the legal heads. The lap chart said he made it to
fifth on the first lap, and ran as hagh as second. I'm sure Barry will
have more shortly.
