Mike,
When the TR-2 was brand new, and raced CSCC events for the first time, I
remember
a wheel finishing well ahead of the car. The entire center section was stil
firmly attached to the drum, but the rest of the wheeel and tire and found their
own freedom. From that point on, safety plates were required equipment for
competition, and recommended for any use. If the Sunbeam steel wheels suffer
such difficulties, including lug pull-out, a similar safety feature should be
made mandatory. Wouldn't want to be hit by somebody elses run-a-way wheel, or
his out of control car. If this really is as bad as indicated, something should
be done even for street use. Too bad the "re-call" campaign won't work.
