This subject has probably been brought up many times in this forum so
please indulge me a little here. Has anyone out there solved the problem
of these damn rattly Ford shifters yet? It is my understanding that the
rattle does not come from the shift lever itself but the shifter housing
underneath. Can anybody help with that?
In that same vein, I have contemplated going to a Hurst shifter and just
abandon the stock setup if I can't fix the rattle. I have had great luck
with the Hurst units that I have had in other Fords but will they even fit
in a Tiger without modifying the sheetmetal of the transmission tunnel? If
so, is it possible to install them with the transmission bolted in place,
or does the tranny have to be able to be moved over for accessibility? Any
help on these matters would be appreciated.
