Well, Iâ??ll tell ya..Iâ??ve always drained a bit of water and done all the
head bolts. Two years ago at the track a friend had the cotter pin holding the
rockers on break (cotter pin for that assembly - thereâ??s a top 10 stupid
design). I loaned him a new assembly to bolt on. I was ridiculed by some for
suggesting he do all the bolts and he only did those holding the rocker
pedestals. He has since failed head gaskets every hour of run time or so, and
is now convinced the head is cracked somewhere.
If I short cut ANYTHING on our cars it always bites me. Iâ??m just not that
lucky and thereâ??s no margin in any of the designs on our cars with the
exception of the rear hub bearing which we used at work on the Abrams M1A1
tank.
