I have cut the post off the poppet valve and just soldered up the holes, not
much to worry about if the solder melts. Have run several that way without
issue. But, of course, David is right and you probably need new shafts
anyway. Peter C. has had them in stock when I needed them.

Dunno bout everyone else's opinion, but I would recommend going to Joe Curto
and buying a new pair of throttle shafts and a new pair of butterflies
without the valves. They were only engineered to pass the period emissions
tests, NOT to actually improve the emissions at all ;-) Joe insists that it
only takes one good backfire to melt the solder and swallow the poppet
valve. Is it worth the risk?
