I have not used one of the chamber type lasers, but I have used the
older, optical boresighter. It was within about 2" of dead on at 100
yards on the first shot. It was also inexpensive and works on a
variet of guns. However, the one I have was for a .22 only works if
the scope centerline is less than 1.5" from the bore centerline. It
was too low to work on my AR15.
If the high price of ammo has you down, think about relaoding. I am
getting .223 for $.23 a round if buy everything in quantities of 1000
and get four loadings out of the brass.
