Hello Jim,
According to exhaustive (man am i tired of lookin' at this stuff)
research, the ground effects were MOST beneficial to the BE's.
Square bodies do get some, just not as much. There was a bunch of
stuff about the airflow under and over the bonnet and then the
difference in plenum at the back in being interfered with by the
full length of the later springs and the reinforcement necessary
for same. Thus more reduced oversteer for the BE's as well. Funny
how a simple change of hood configuration NECESSITATED the
changes at the rear to maintain a handling balance.
The radio impovement was serendiptious, at least according to my
research. The engineers were as surprised as anyone else when
at the increased range and clarity of the signal in the car
compared with the prototypes.
