One thing that always helps me out is to have the suspension somewhere
near ride height. There's less strain on the TRE joint than when it's at
full droop. Just put a jack under the fulcrum pin and raise it up a bit.

But I've held a hammer to one side and hit it with another hammer hard
on 
the other side... 
It helps if you have a lovely assistant to hold a pry bar between the
rod and 
the arm... 
It helps you... not the tie-rod...
