Not sure on a MKIII but the rag top on my Bugeye has pulled the 
windshield top metal frame off the glass at speed.
Of course "at speed" was 80 mph with a good head wind. Bugeyes were 
never meant to go 80 with the top up. ;) But it was raining that day.
I know I have the rod somewhere, I'll see what I have for the top part 
and let you know.
