Not surprising, Larry... same with my Frogeye and '85 GTi. Both can get by on 89PON but the Frog idles and runs a lot better (smoother) on 93, most especially during summer temps. The GTi "wakes up" substantially on prem. rather than "mid-grade". Most of the new stuff incorporates auto ign. advance/retard to some extent based upon octane, induction temperature and other "chip" parameters. Use prem. and you automatically get better performance but if you keep your foot out of it, better mileage, octane for octane. Cap'n Bob Basic Frog |
