Adrian,

If the engaged portion of the splines on the stuck axle have been stripped
off, and the un-engaged bit of splines at the end of the shaft have NOT
stripped off, it will pull part way out and then stick because the remaining
bit of splines at the tip op the shaft need to be turned to match up with
the 'female' spline cavity in the diff. So, pull out gently until you feel
it hitting some resistance, then like a safecracker feeling of the click,
turn the axle while pulling out gently to match the remaining bits of spline
with the hole.

Good luck,

With the car up on jacks turning either wheel or the drive shaft has no
effect on anything else. I was able to remove the right halfshaft but the
left one seems to be jammed. I can only move it out 1/2" from the hub before
it stops. I have tried using wedges but it is quite stubborn and I am
wondering if there is an easier way to get it out. As I pull the left
halfshaft and move it out the 1/2" that it allows me, it engages the
differential and I am able to turn the drive shaft by turning the left hub.
No change on the right side. Any suggestions for getting the halfshaft free
or tips on this problem. Thanks
