I may be mistaken (yeah, right, like that's ever happened<grin>) but
were there any rear wheel drive Subarus? All I seem to remember are
front wheel and 4x4 models.
But if we're gonna go and start putting horizontally opposed engines in
our little cars, I can think of some Bavarian models that might have a
BIT more power in them...<grin>

Subject: Subaru power in a spridget...
hey... came across this auction and it got me thinking...

Has anyone ever tried (or know of someone who tried) to stick a subaru 4
cylinder in a spridget. I would think that it's properties might make
it a decent choice for a conversion...
a) it's aluminum,
b) it's light,
c) 165hp (maybe not in '91)
d) horizontally opposed (i.e. sits low for better handling)
e) lot's of weeeeeeee potential in a 1,400lb car
It might be too wide, though. interfere with the suspension...
just thinking aloud...... I have no plans of converting the midget...
