My understanding, which is admittedly limited, leads me to disagree. Jasco
is stuff you put on rust to "convert" it to a black paintable surface. The
primer I mentioned is called DP and is usually followed by a number, such as
DP90. The number, I believe, indicates the tint. DP is a ppg product and is
a primer. The difference between it and other primers is that most others
are porous, and therefore not a rust-proof. DP is epoxy based. It's well
suited to acid dipped or other very clean surfaces because in addition to
protecting them indefinitely regardless of storage conditions (including
underwater) it does not stand in the way of, and in fact improves, the
adhesion of paint, filler, or even weld, all of which can be applied without
removal of the DP. I don't think it's an acid of any type.
It's phosporic acid priced a 2 or 3 times what you can buy it at Home Depot
or other hardware suppliers as Jasco Prep 'N Prime.
