Larry--welcome to the best car list you will find anywhere.  As regards the 
"dark hole" I visited with a man here close to Knoxville who had a Bugeye and 
had cut the rear deck out and installed a boot lid.  He cut the hole and 
welded in the inner lip, then installed the lid with hinges.  Looked really 
great and like the factory had installed it.  It was a great Idea!!
