Jeff,

I used to have this same situation happen with an old Datsun f-10 (bascially 
had 
a knock off of the a-series engine) quite frequently. I'd be driving along, and 
without any warning, the engine would die, and could not be restarted. The 
capacitor for the points was at fault, and this would happened often enough 
that 
I always ket a spare set of points in the glove compartment. In any case you 
might want to try a new capacitor before spending alot of time trying 
everything 
else.
