Ulix, Big brakes are maybe not what you need- as you might already suspect. I agree that there are plenty of things one should try first, e.g. braided lines and good Hawk brake pads for low temp applications. The rear drum brakes have to be in good shape and that will make a lot of difference. I also think that when doing auto-x that bigger brakes would put you in a very competitive fast SCCA class.
