Hi Chuck,
I've used Redline, Valvoline, and Amsoil, with Amsoil being my personal
favorite, followed by Redline and then Valvoline. This is based on
experiences (over 100,000 miles worth) with my BMW, which is very sensitive
to gear oil, especially when cold (pretty much a thing of the past now in
Florida). I also nursed along a Lotus transaxle ($3000 rebuild, and that's
if only the synchros are bad) for 2 years using Redline and Valvoline.
Valvoline's easier to get around here. They sell it at Pep Boys and I
think I've seen it at Wal Mart. I've only seen it in 80w/90 viscosity,
although that's all I've needed it in. Amsoil is, IMHO, a cut above, and
includes a friend's experience with a gear-eating 640 bhp Mustang quarter
car that I'm starting to get sucked into (sort of an anti-Bugeye, but it's
fun to learn). It's harder to find, usually at speed shops that are never
open 'cause they've gone racing.

Off to the Bugeye - a box o' parts came in the post Christmas mail today.

As usual, my .02,
Ron
