Hi Matthew,

If I remember correctly, the '76+ all used an OPUS electronic ignition.
The plug you described mates with a ?female? adaptor that comes from the
OPUS system mounted under the distributor cap - that is if you are still
using the OPUS. In my case I switched over to the Petronix. To do so,
I had to bypass the ballast wire in the wiring harness and therefore use
none of the wires coming from the plug. I would expect you will find
you need to do something similar in which case the plug goes no where.
I simply tie-wrapped mine out of the way in case in the future I for
some reason that is beyond me currently I would like to switch back to
the OPUS.

Anyways, good luck!

ps. there is a really good wiring diagram by Tom O'Malley for the Spits
found on www.triumphspitfire.com. Well worth printing out 11x17 in
colour and laminating at the local copy store, or buying if anyone knows
where to buy them?

1) There is a 3-prong plug on the wiring harness in the engine
compartment. The wires leading to it are: wht/blue wht (all white)
wht/black (I think it's black...) Does anyone know where this should be
hooked up? I believe this should hook up to some wires for the
distributor and ballast resistor. My car has the Crane ignition system,
so these should not be needed. Just wanting to confirm.
